2010.

1. What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before?
I started the year unemployed, which I've never officially been before. In April I married the man of my dreams! In December I traveled outside the US for the first time ever for our honeymoon. I will post about the honeymoon soon!

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don't make resolutions. I'd rather not set myself up for failure! I guess I do need to get better at taking pictures. I didn't take many last year at all.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
I don't think so. Ryan's friend Ed became a dad, but we haven't met his son yet. Hopefully we'll be able to arrange a dinner in early 2011. Some bloggers gave birth too, so congrats to all of them!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Nope.

5. What countries did you visit?
Dominican Republic on our honeymoon!

6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you didn’t have in 2010?
Well I'm already starting the year out better than 2010 because I'm starting the year employed rather than unemployed. January was a bit depressing last year. Year-end won't be much fun at work with all the reports and getting ready for 4th quarter loan review AND the OCC coming, but at least I have a job! I'm very thankful for that.

7. What dates from 2010 will be etched upon your memory, and why?
April 17, 2010. Our wedding day. Also June 21 which was my first day at my current job!

8. What was your biggest achievement of this year?
Getting married. And getting a new job!

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not sure? I definitely fail every time I enter the kitchen. I eat too much and I can't cook.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I didn't feel good for almost 2 weeks straight after the honeymoon. I wasn't really ill, but I didn't feel 100% right either. Thankfully it passed and I'm all good now!

11. What was the best thing you bought?
A king size bed. Best decision ever!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Ryan. He puts up with me so that's a pretty big feat.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Nobody. Nothing that affects me anyway!

14. Where did most your money go?
Bills

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The wedding and then the honeymoon. I also got really excited to start my current job, and leave the previous one!

16. What song will always remind you of 2010?
Justin Bieber? I've been bad at listening to music this year since I no longer listen to my mp3 player at work.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you: a) happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer?
a) happier
b) fatter
c) probably the same?

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Taken more pictures.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Eating.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
Christmas morning I went to my aunt & uncle's for breakfast and then at night went to another aunt & uncle's for socializing/drinking.

21. Did you fall in love with 2010?
I fell in love a while ago, but I'm still in love!

22. What was your favorite TV program?
Honestly, Teen Mom. It's like a train wreck...I can't stop watching!

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
I don't think so. I try to avoid drama so I'm pretty sure I don't dislike anyone enough to consider it hate.

24. What was the best book you read?
I liked the Milennium series. I also read 2 out of 3 of the Hunger Games. I'm halfway through book 3 now. I like them all so far!

25. What was your greatest musical discovery?
No clue. I haven't been into much music this year.

26. What did you want and get?
King size bed.

27. What did you want and not get?
A house and a Sony reader.

28. What was your favorite film of 2009?
I sucked at watching movies this year too. I'll say Eclipse only because it's the only one I really remember.

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I went to work. It was my second to last day at the temporary gig before I started my new job. I turned 27. We had a pig out at work and a co-worker made egg rolls for me because she knew I loved them!

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Having enough money to buy a house. Moving from a house to an apartment is kind of depressing.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept of 2010?
I don't know what this even means. I'm not into fashion. Sure I have a lot of clothes and like to shop, but I just buy what looks nice. I don't care about designer crap. I am all about cheap! Most of the clothes I purchased this year are from Kohl's, American Eagle or New York & Company.

32. What kept you sane?
Who says I'm sane?

33. What political issue stirred you the most?
Health care.

34. Who did you miss?
My old co-workers from M&I.

35. Who was the best new person you met?
New co-workers.

36. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010.
I need to include my husband in more decisions. It's extra hard for us vs. other couples since we work opposite schedules and don't get to talk every day. We may kiss each other goodbye or talk briefly, but we don't have conversations daily.

37. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
I suck at quotes so I'm going to skip this one.

Ten on Tuesday

Sponsored by Roots & Rings

1. What was the number one item on your Christmas wishlist?
Sony Reader. I'm probably going to use Amazon gift cards to purchase it. I have $25 and will be able to redeem my MyPoints to get at least another $75. (Leave me your e-mail address and I'll send you a referral e-mail for MyPoints!)

2. Did you get the number one item on your Christmas wishlist?
Nope.

3. How long has it been since you’ve had a pedicure?
I got one right before we left for the honeymoon, so less than a month ago. I've had a total of 3 in my life. One with a friend when I paid for her as a birthday gift, before my wedding and before the honeymoon!

4. How cold is it in your city today?
22 right now.

5. How many pillows do you sleep with?
One - king size.

6. Can you roll your tongue?
Yes, but I don't consider it a talent. I think most people can roll their tongue.

7. Do you always buy the same mascara or do you try new ones each tube?
I almost always use different ones. I usually get them cheap or free with coupons/sales so I'm not particular on brand. I don't usually wear mascara anyway. I have plenty, so I'm always giving it away!

8. What’s your favorite cookbook?
I usually use the ones my mom gave me from a supper club that is now closed. There are 4 of them in the "series."

9. What was your first pet?
I was never really an animal lover, so most of the pets we had I never really considered "mine." My first pet was probably a goldfish won at St. John's Spring Fest, and the fish probably only lived a week.

10. Do you wear jewelry on a daily basis?
Wedding ring - obviously

Earrings - I have 2 holes in each ear and almost always have earrings in my second hole, and usually in my first hole

Belly button ring - I got it pierced on my 18th birthday, it got infected so I let it close up, got it pierced again and it got infected again, and got it pierced a 3rd time becuase I felt naked without it and the piercing covers the scar tissue.

I sometimes wear necklaces, if I have time to throw one on quick. I usually have to know which one I want to wear because I can't turn on the light in the bedroom where my necklaces are due to my husband who is ALWAYS sleeping while I'm getting ready for work.

Sometimes I wear a watch, if it matches my outfit. I typically don't like to wear one just because I feel like it's in the way since I sit at a computer all day at work.

Sometimes I wear other rings, just depends on my mood.

Fill in the Blank Friday

1. Holiday spirit is not found at our house! The holidays are nice for spending time with family, but we don't get "into" it by decorating, or listening to Christmas music. I kind of like to shop for Christmas presents, but it can be difficult if I don't know exactly what to get someone. I like buying things I know someone will LOVE, rather than just a gift card (even if it was on their Christmas list). I guess I'm kind of indifferent in my feelings towards the holidays.

2. The holidays are incomplete without family, Christmas Eve dinner at my parents house, traveling to Minnesota to celebrate with Ryan's family, holiday parties for work, LifeSavers storybooks, and an empty pocketbook!

3. My favorite things to do around the holidays is watch Christmas movies. My favorites are A Very Brady Christmas (which has not been released on DVD, but I have a VHS copy from eBay), Miracle on 34th Street (either version is fine), Home Alone (1 & 2), and All I Want for Christmas. Sorry Mom, Prancer didn't make the list!

4. A holiday tradition my family and I have is the pickle ornament! My dad's family also does a "grab bag" gift exchange. It is more commonly known as a "white elephant" gift exchange, but they're Pollacks!

5. Holiday music is really annoying. It is fine if you don't have to listen to it ALL DAY at work! We have one song that is barking dogs. I cannot stand it! I told my co-workers that one of the best things about being on vacation this is week is not having to listen to that crap!

6. This year, I'll be spending the holidays
Christmas Eve at my parents house for dinner, Christmas Day at my Aunt & Uncle's house for brunch, and who knows what for New Year's Eve. We're opening presents with my family on the 18th, my dad's family on the 19th and Ryan's family early January.

7. Holiday wish list
1. e-reader
2. mittens and hat to match my North Face jacket
3. gift cards
4. money

Honeymoon

This time next week Ryan and I will be on our honeymoon! I just thought I'd rub it in and share some photos of what we plan to do!

First we'll check into our room:

Then we're going to change into our swim suits and find this chair. Clearly the girl in the photo already found my swim suit and borrowed it for this photo! Weird!
After 5 minutes of that I'm going to grab my books and sit by the pool to get some sun! I already have my chair picked out!

Ryan will undoubtedly make some friends and probably play some games. Not that he's competitive or anything...
We'll have a romantic dinner together.
We'll make good friend's with this guy over the course of the week.
We'll check this place out. This club can't even handle us right now!

After a long, stressful day we'll hit the hay.
The next morning we'll get massages and then do it all over again!
(Except I won't really get a massage because I don't like people touching me)
And maybe we'll even see this family! This happy family seems to do everything hand in hand all over the resort! Honestly there are at least 5 pictures of this same family on the website. I wonder if I can convince them to take pics of Ryan and I strolling on the dock so their website can have some diversity! How about some happy people who don't have kids?
